Comfort

When comparing the comfort functions, we focused on measuring the current consumption of the tags and the main signaling unit. This was done to determine the expected battery life under various operating conditions.

Label consumption:

Agent MS PRO:

This system has the smallest capacity battery (CR2016) - only 0.075Ah, which also determines the smallest size of the tag body among the competing ones. The issue of energy is very important here, and Magic Systems engineers managed to optimize consumption figures. At rest, the tag emits once every two seconds, when the connection is lost, it switches to the fast polling mode with radiation once a second, after 30 seconds it returns to its original state. Only one packet is sent for the request, but as practice shows, the recognition radio channel works quite stably. The estimated battery life is 384 days.

Auto Lis Mobile:

This system uses the most capacious CR2430 battery. 2 packets are transmitted on the air, after which the air is listened to. Despite the fact that the system uses an old transceiver, the results are very positive. Estimated battery life, under conditions of average use - 611 days.

Excellent Revo5:

The largest and longest-lived mark. The main block always starts the dialogue, so the tag sleeps all the time and periodically listens to the air, in the security mode every 1.2 seconds. This is the secret of longevity, despite the fact that the battery used is an average CR2032 (220 mAh). In medium use mode, the battery in the tag should last 1122 days (more than 3 years).

Pandect 1700:

Representatives of the manufacturer Pandora announced a change in the algorithm of the radio channel, because. there have been many complaints about the rapid discharge of the battery in the tag. This is clearly visible on the graph, compared to the previous test, we see a reduction in broadcasts: before there were 4, now 2. However, the tag remains with the lowest battery life compared to competitors. The radiation period is once per second with a fairly high current consumption. Near the system, the tag consumes almost 2.5 times less than away from it. When the tag is at home, the average current consumption is 30 μA, this is a rather high figure that clearly needs to be optimized. In the average operating mode, the tag will live 240 days.

Prizrak 840:

The tag has an algorithm for data exchange with the base unit, just like in Excellence. The block starts the dialogue first, the label is in the broadcast listening mode with a period of 1 second. After successful identification, data exchange between the tag and the base module no longer occurs. This greatly reduces energy costs. However, a rather consumed process is going on in the dialog (see graph), this may probably be the reason for the inability to enable the regular radio channel blocking logic. In the average operating mode, the tag will live 441 days.

StarLine M96:

Unlike other tags, the Starline tag had to be tested even under the conditions of a triggered accelerometer (i.e. in motion), so there were not 3 measurements like for each tag, but 6.

The Bluetooth transmission protocol is clearly traced in Starline, this can be seen from 3 request packets on the air. After the transmission of each packet, the air is listened to. The M96 system uses algorithms for generating temporary keys with a timestamp, data exchange is more complicated than that of competing systems. The above conditions cause increased power consumption. Engineers attempted to compensate for this by interacting with the tag's built-in accelerometer, which is the only tag that uses an accelerometer to save power. In the average operation mode, the battery in the tag should live 362 days. An interesting observation is that the type of transceiver used has changed in the Starline tag, this was done to implement support for the Bluetooth 4.0 algorithm, incl. to support as a smart phone authorization element.

Consumption of car alarms

This test is very important for determining the average battery life under various operating conditions. In order to fully check all possible conditions, we make a calculation according to the summer and winter seasons, taking into account the dependence of the battery capacity on the temperature coefficient.

And we also measure the voltage drop across the resistor through which our alarms are connected to the regular car battery, under normal conditions and in conditions of strong interference. We create strong interference to the GSM network with the help of a GSM broadcast suppressor (jammer). All systems were connected to a Skoda Octavia. We waited for the vehicle electronics to go to sleep and began measuring the consumption of the systems under test. We consider the capacity of a regular battery 60Ah. The consumption of a standard system in our calculations will be taken as 15mA. Conditions for guaranteed engine start - 30% of the nominal capacity of the battery. In advance, we will not give examples of calculating the operation in the summer, because at a temperature of 20 degrees, under the above conditions and current consumption of the tested systems, the battery will last from 33 to 45 days, which is an acceptable norm. Therefore, let's evaluate the extremum points where the situation for the user can turn out to be the most painful - this is winter + conditions of strong GSM interference.

Agent MS PRO:

In terms of current consumption, the indicator is too high compared to competitors; in winter, with such consumption, in conditions of strong interference from the GSM network, the battery will last 12 days. When testing, microimmobilizers 100,200,300 were not connected, but their consumption currents will not greatly affect the result.

Auto Lis Mobile:

Avtolis Mobile was tested with a GPS antenna, without a CAN module. It can be seen that in the security mode, the average current consumption was 27.7 mA, and in conditions of strong interference 55.7 mA. When calculating according to the initial conditions, taking into account the winter period of operation, at a temperature of -20 degrees, in the absence of a GSM connection, the car's battery will last for 9 days. Returning from a two-week vacation, you can find yourself with a "broken trough", i.e. with a dead battery. This manufacturer got out of this situation in the following way: when the critical voltage threshold of the standard battery is reached, the GSM modem is simply turned off. Turns back on when an alarm occurs. This method is a "fix" in this situation and needs to be adjusted software or hardware platform, to optimize consumption. After all, leaving our car in conditions of strong GSM interference (and this is not easy to control), we risk either planting the battery or being left without communication with the car, for example, if we want to remotely start the engine, we will not be able to do this, because. GSM modem is off. Also, in such conditions, it is not entirely clear whether the car is in the same place, or the hijacker, who has a jammer, dragged it away on a tow truck a long time ago.

Pandect X-1700
