How to properly tie a fishing line to a fishing rod with and without a connector. How to properly tie a fishing line to a fishing rod Telescopic rod without rings how to use

One of the keys to successful fishing is the reliability of the equipment used. The ability to choose the correct and rational ways of attaching the main line to the rod is one of these criteria for comfortable fishing. You can correctly tie the fishing line to the fishing rod in certain ways, which also depend on the fishing conditions, the type of tackle and the size of the trophy planned in the catch. The angler's knowledge of options that allow quick, reliable and with the possibility of subsequent dismantling with the least consequences for the equipment contribute to saving time on fishing and reducing the cost of installations, which are guaranteed to be completely safe.

Most often, anglers have to decide how to attach a fishing line to a fishing rod without rings. Of course, first of all, this problem relates to fly rods, during the assembly of which a tying method suitable for the fishing conditions must be applied without fail. The presented article will allow anglers to get acquainted with the main options for fastening the line on the max, specify the materials that will be needed for the implementation of fastening operations, and give an idea of the processes of technical execution of the manipulations themselves.

The prototype of the fly was once an ordinary stick, which makes it possible to feed bait into a certain fishing area by means of a thread attached to the tip of the device. In the modern fishing world, with the advent of innovative materials that have both high strength and the same high flexibility parameters, the rod began to look like a telescopic lightweight design with a length of 3 to 11 meters. The tackle whip is smooth, without the addition of folding knees with access rings. The fishing line with the installation is wound onto a reel, where it is stored until the next fishing trip. To assemble this type of gear into working condition, you will need to tie a fishing line to a fly rod, and with a change in fishing conditions, you may need to change equipment during fishing to a completely different type.

Important! The material used to make the rod varies from fiberglass, which is a heavy option for tackle, to carbon fiber and carbon fiber blanks, which are a lightweight option.

Plug-in rods are also one of the types of mach, the assembly principle of which is based on connecting parts of the rod into a glass, and the main core of the cord is attached to the tip of the tackle through a shock-absorbing device called feedergam. The plugs differ from the ordinary swing by the significant size of their length, which can reach values from 9 to 20 meters. Whips are made of carbon fiber and even with such a huge size, tackle rarely exceeds the weight of 1.5 kg. Tests of both types of fishing rods do not exceed 70 grams, but in terms of their structure, manufacturers are trying to produce blank lines with medium and slow parameters.

What is a connector

Fastening the fishing line to the fly rod is most conveniently done using a locking device or a connector. Connectors are made of durable plastics or light metal alloys.

Important! The installation of the fishing line to the fly rod is carried out through a self-tightening loop, previously connected by the angler on the cord.

To change the fishing line, you need to unclench the knot and change the cord to a new type of installation. The product consists of two main parts - the hook itself and a movable lock in the form of a cylinder that closes it, which tightly presses the fishing line after the knot is tightened on the hook. This type of fastener does not deform the fishing line and does not expose it to abrasion during fishing.

How to choose

Connectors made of duralumin alloys are considered more reliable elements and are used when catching large and powerful fish, carp, barbel, ide and chub. Plastic varieties of products are suitable only for the conditions of catching medium-sized fish, roach, bleak, ruff, minnow and small carp. The advantages of connectors are in the speed of changing the main lines and the reliability of its fastening. In addition, this device is inexpensive in its cost, durable and easy to use, and, apart from glue, does not require additional materials for installation on the rod.

Important! The method of mounting the device on the rod depends on the design of the tip of the tackle.

If the tip has an internal cavity, then the product is purchased with a sleeve for internal mounting. If the tip of the rod is solid, a connector with a hollow shank is purchased. To accurately select the connector, you will also need to know exactly the outer or inner diameter of the last knee of the blank. The easiest way is to measure the stem with a compass and use this tool to select the required accessory option in the store. But it is more reliable to grab the rod itself to the point of sale and pick up the fixture by directly connecting the parts in a trial way. Having chosen the option required for the configuration, the device is glued to the tip of the fishing rod blank with glue and after the joint has dried, the tackle is completely ready for the installation of the cord.

How to tie a fishing line to a fishing rod without rings

The above-described connector came into the use of a float fisherman relatively recently and not every angler even today prefers this particular method, which allows you to attach a fishing line to a rod without rings. Many experienced anglers use their own types of fasteners, which are simple, cheap and low material consumption, but require a lot of labor and time for installation and the ability to complete the process from the angler.

We will describe the most popular of them in the next chapter of the material, so that there is still an alternative and choice in relation to the connector, and in the field, the angler was able to solve the problem of connecting without the presence of a factory fastener option.

Other Ways to Attach Line to a Fly Rod

We fix the fishing line to the fly rod, forming a ring of wire or paper clip. Next, we attach the antennae emanating from the circumference of the ring to the quiver-type of the rod, tightly, winding the nylon thread around the twist and subsequently glue the winding with glue. The fishing line is attached to the ring by means of a loop-to-loop connection. As a result, we get a solid deaf mount. Remounting the rig will require cutting the line at the ring and forming another loop on the cord.

We make one more connection to the tip of the tip with the help of cambrics. To form a joint, you will need a cambric that fits snugly around the tip of the blank. A cut of the selected material of 10 centimeters is cut into two equal parts. We freely skip the first one along the fishing line, and tie the cord to the second and pull it on the tip, moving 7–10 cm towards the butt of the rod. We wind the cord into a couple of turns on the freed end of the tackle and close the mount by pulling the first piece of cambric onto the blank. The connection is ready. To re-equip the fishing rod, you will need to completely repeat the described operation, after cutting off the fishing line and removing the cambric from the blank for re-manipulation.

The next method can be implemented in two versions, in one of which a knitted nylon casing will be used, and in the second, a hat elastic or a model. The casing is threaded onto a quivertip, previously lubricated with glue, so that a 10 cm piece of rope hangs from the tip of the rod and the connection is allowed to dry. Further, a knot is formed on the free section. The fishing line at the end of the rope is tied by tightening the loop, which is stopped by the formed knot. Replacing with a new installation requires cutting the fishing line and another connection through tightening the loop. When using a model, the gum itself is attached to the tip of the tackle with a nylon thread with sizing. And as with a rope, they form a knot that acts as a stopper for the loops of the mounted lines.

Important! The model acts in two ways, serving at the same time as a connecting element, and is a feedergum, which gives the angler reason to use more sensitive equipment and thin line diameters when fishing.

On the montages prepared for the conditions of fishing, loops are knitted in advance and the fishing lines are attached to the model and the rope already directly in the process of fishing.

Many experienced fishermen use a variety of tricks to increase their catch. It is much more difficult for beginners to achieve high results, so you have to work hard. The float rod has been around for a long time and is effectively used for catching many types of fish. Such rods show good results when the bait is live bait.

Buy or make a fishing rod?

A big catch is affected by the correct equipment of the rod, fishing tactics and much more. Therefore, you should take into account the most insignificant nuances that will help in hunting for fish. A sufficient number of rods have been produced for anglers, and everyone can choose according to their preferences..

Beginners find themselves in a dilemma: buy a rod in a store in a complete set or assemble it yourself. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages.

If the choice fell on assembling a fishing rod with your own hands, then you will have to purchase all the necessary parts and have a minimum of knowledge on how to equip a float fishing rod for summer fishing. So, for assembly you will need:

  • fishing rod;
  • float;
  • fishing line;
  • hook;
  • crusher.

At first glance, it may seem that putting the elements together is a difficult task and it will take quite a lot of time to work.

But when buying a rod in a complete set, you can forget about the tedious self-assembly and you will not need to deal with the device and think about where and what to attach. A purchased fishing rod significantly saves precious time, and if the fisherman decided to immediately go hunting for underwater predators, then this option is ideal for a beginner.

But, by assembling the rod with your own hands, you can adjust the fishing gear according to individual preferences. This option is suitable for more experienced fishermen who want to master the fishing craft to perfection. For this reason, professionals are constantly improving their rods, hence every angler should know how to assemble a float rod.

Gear varieties

Despite the large range of rods that are designed for catching a certain category of fish, it is better to bet on a universal type. They can catch fish of any kind, and if you apply competent tactics, then fishing will become more successful. It should be borne in mind that fishing rods have very different lengths, and if the fisherman prefers long casts, then he should purchase a long fishing rod with a reel, which makes it easier to cast the float far.

Despite the huge selection of rods, there are only 3 of their types.:

  1. Match. The rod is similar to a spinning rod because it has a sliding float design. With this tool, you can make long casts in deep places.
  2. Plug. Due to the special design, it is easy to make point delivery of tackle to a certain place in a pond or river.
  3. Flywheels. The tool is not equipped with a reel, and casts are performed thanks to swings.

How to choose a float fly rod

Professional and novice anglers prefer this particular rod option, as it is intended for a wide variety of fishing. What you need to know about fly rod:

Not all float rods include a reel, so you should pay attention to this important point when choosing. There are models that do not even have special mounts for the coil.

The length of the fly rod ranges from 400 to 600 cm.

How to equip a fly rod

In general, the equipment of a fly rod includes a number of parts that are fixed to each other and make up a single mechanism. How to assemble float tackle, diagram:

  • in order to install a float on a fishing line, you should purchase 2 cambric;
  • lead crushers are purchased to load the float; these elements come with both a hole and a notch;
  • sinkers are attached to the fishing line with an interval of 7 cm between each other, so their number should be more than two pieces; the shed is the last weight that loads the entire tackle.
  • so that the fish is not afraid of the fishing line and can safely swim up to the bait, you should buy a leash.

The leash has one more advantage: often the hook clings to a snag, in which case you can only lose it, and all the tackle will remain unharmed.

How to choose a float

To improve your fishing performance with a fly rod, it is best to choose a float with a thin top. It would be ideal if the center of the float smoothly goes up to the narrowing. Goose feathers can also be a good substitute for a float. They are especially sensitive and react to any fluctuation of the bait.

To cope with the task of rigging, you should know the type of mounting for each type of rod, especially if the model does not have rings. How to attach a float with a ring to a fishing line:

  • it is necessary to push the fishing line into the float from the bottom up;
  • then a cambric is attached to the fishing line;
  • the bottom of the float is installed in cambric.

Installing a float without a ring:

  • instead of a ring, one cambric can be used;
  • to make the float more comfortable, special elastic bands should be used, but they should not compress the fishing line too much.

Float loading: some subtleties

For successful fishing, it is recommended to follow some rules for loading the float.. As a general rule, only the top (antenna) should be visible from the water. It is to this extent that weights are installed, thereby adjusting the level of immersion.

Windy weather can create big problems for sensitive gear. In this case, the float should be adjusted so that the wind does not interfere with fishing.

The load of the float depends on the reservoir, since the current in it can be both calm and strong. Cling sinkers to the level until the marks on the antenna are equal to water, sometimes even lower. But, no matter how loaded the float, the attack of a predator will make itself felt.

Before going out for fishing, you should load the float in advance. This is done at home. It is enough to find a large container (barrel) and throw tackle there. If it is skewed, it means that there are very few weights attached and you need to pick up more, but you need to understand that a huge number of them can scare away the fish. For this reason, sinkers of different diameters are attached, for example, one large and two small.

Fixing the leash on the fishing line

For beginners, this is a real problem. The leash is attached by a wide variety of methods, but it is better to use the one that is considered the most famous and effective.

Other options for fastening the leash can be found from professional fishermen, if there are such among your friends, and if not, then just go to the fishing forum and ask for the necessary information.

But the most relevant way involves tying a fishing line and a leash with insulation. This element is worn on a fishing line. Next, loops are made on the fishing line so that the cambrics are inside the loops. What line to choose for a float rod? Here you need to focus on the mass of fish. There are blue and green camouflage lines. It is advisable to buy a stronger reel, as a weighty fish can be caught, which will cut off all the tackle.

There is a wide variety of hooks for a particular type of fish. Therefore, the fisherman can choose the most preferred option.. They can be of different sizes and shapes. Again, it all depends on what size and what kind of fish the angler is going to catch. Let's say a large hook is not suitable for catching small fish, since it cannot swallow it.

Unlike Russian models, foreign ones are in great demand, they are better and more efficient. Many anglers leave only good reviews about them.

To catch aggressive fish of medium or large size, it is necessary to select the appropriate size hooks. For fishing in the conditions of a river with a quiet current, the choice is given to small hooks.

Attaching a hook to a line

The technology involves several options for tying hooks to fishing line. Among all the methods, only one is needed, effective and simple, which is suitable for beginners.

The hook must be tied to the fishing line using a special fixation knot. To perform this action, it is necessary to pass the fishing line through the carabiner so that several turns can be made. After that, the edge of the fishing line is drawn into the carabiner, and then the entire knot is tightened, thus securing the hook.

Over the years, many methods of fishing have been invented. Among all the methods, you can choose the most convenient and effective, however, with good ingenuity, it will not be superfluous to develop your own personal tactics, which will always be successful. As previously mentioned, it is better to go fishing with experienced fishermen who will prompt and show you how to fish correctly.

Attention, only TODAY!

The fly rod is considered the most productive float rod for catching small fish, of all kinds. This is achieved by the speed of casting and pulling the equipment. And inferior in quality of control over the snap, only the plug.

Fly rods are universal tackle, they can be used for different fishing methods and different types of fish: crucian carp, bream, ide, rudd. According to the type of connection, they can be divided into:

  • plug;
  • telescopic.

Fishing is usually done only in the coastal zone of the reservoir at medium and short distances. The fishing process is short, depending on the length of the rod, rigging through the water, followed by its control: holding and stopping. When the weight of the rod is light, it is easier to perform multiple and well-aimed casts for a long time. The main advantage of such fishing is the ability to quickly recast, which is especially important with a strong bite.

Rod varieties

They have a fairly wide range of applications, and therefore endowed with many different modifications. Each of which has only its inherent features.

There are 3 main varieties:

  • classic. The most common length is up to 13 m. Very powerful, thanks to its design and the flexibility of the material used, you can easily pull out a trophy even up to 5 kg.
  • bleak. They got this name after repeated sports competitions, where they caught bleak on them. The length reaches 4 m. They are quite light and thin. The handle is made of high quality materials, has a slight thickening up to 30 cm. This thickening is made to increase comfort.
  • Carp. They are not widely used due to their very large size: from 7 to 14 m. They are quite heavy, so they usually fish from special racks.

Criterias of choice

Selected according to the following criteria:

  • Rod knees should be long.
  • The more joints, the heavier it is and, therefore, the worse the system will be.
  • The thinner the diameter of the butt, the higher its class will be, and, therefore, the best system.
  • You need to pay attention to the tip of the fishing rod, the thinner it is, the better.

Material

Now it is used mainly: composite, fiberglass, carbon fiber.

Fiberglass - this is the most budget option, and from this, probably, not very successful, it has:

  • large mass;
  • insufficient elasticity and strength.

Composite consists of a mixture of fiberglass, as well as carbon fiber. The content of all components will depend on: strength and rigidity. These blank data will reduce its mass, while proportionally increasing the price. Not a bad option, which will combine the individual characteristics of top models and the availability of purchase.

CFRP(carbon) the most successful, which differs:

  • weightlessness;
  • good strength;
  • excellent elasticity;
  • reliability;
  • durability.

Thanks to the fiber, it has a low specific gravity and high tensile strength.

Graphite has a variety of markings, the best swings are made using graphite - IM-9, with a length of up to 11 m. A rather large length gives great advantages to the owners, and ease of use will help you enjoy fishing to the fullest. It has the only drawback - great fragility.

Test

The test is the ranges of weight sent in the cast, which will be comfortable for the fisherman. The ideal test will provide:

  • the correctness of the throw;
  • the required range.

And the inconsistency of this test, its great exaggeration, may result in a breakdown of the form.

build

The structure of the rod directly depends on the stiffness index. It happens:

  • slow;
  • fast.

The level of rigidity depends on such indicators:

  • material;
  • connection strength.

The fewer knees, the more accurate will be its action: the dimensions of this blank should be commensurate with the number of knees, for example, a blank of 5 knees will be 10 m long. A rod with excellent fast action will not sag or sag. When the rod has an excellent action, then it will be able to hook the fish with one movement of the whip.

Length

Will vary from 3 to 14 m, divided into 4 categories:

  • Short- from 2-4 m, weight from 250-450 gr.
  • Medium- from 4-7 m, weight no more than 1.5 kg. This is a particularly popular category.
  • Long- from 8-11 m, for fishing, no more than 3 kg. They are in little demand, and only for fishermen with more experience.
  • Extra long- from 11-14 m, used mainly for competitions.

The weight

Weight should be kept as low as possible. This will allow anglers to easily manipulate the whip.

Optimal Specifications:

  • length 2-4 m.
  • weight 110-130 gr.
  • weight 160-280 gr.

Balance

The main sensations in time: hooking, catching, casting and holding, are determined by knowing his balance. It must correspond to the dispersal of the mass of the form over the length, and create a center of gravity at a certain point.

Casting dynamics is also important; the smaller the residual fluctuations, the better. If the center of gravity is near the handle, then the rod is of high quality.

Power

Power parameters are rarely taken as separate characteristics.

By power they are divided into:

  • medium power;
  • ultralight;
  • powerful;
  • lungs;
  • medium-light.

Vershinka

The last link of the rod is called the "tip" - this is the most flexible part of the blank, which plays the main role when hooking. They are made from elastic composites of a heterogeneous composition, and in various modifications.

It is produced in 3 types:

  • reinforced;
  • hollow;
  • hybrid.

The most acceptable option is a one-piece reinforced whip.

lower knee

The length of the main knee is important especially when transporting it. If we proceed directly from the thickness of the butt, then the blank can be different, it all depends on the material used: for carbon fiber, for example, the base section is equipped with a diameter of about 4 cm.

When the butt is put on ergonomic holders, specially designed for this, it significantly eases the pressure and improves its grip.

The main elements of tackle

For assembly you will need:

  • connector;
  • fishing line, of various thicknesses;
  • a set of hooks;
  • a set of sinkers;
  • several floats;
  • fishing line, for a leash;
  • float mount.

Form

For a high quality rod:

  • handle diameter is the smallest;
  • knees, have a greater length, and the smallest number of knees.

The price of such models will be appropriate, very high. Because quality materials are used for their production, but this is a justified waste.

fishing line

Mostly deaf equipment is used, and with a thin fishing line. The ideal line thickness is 0.1-0.2 mm. The fishing line still needs to be equipped with a special leash:

  • 16-20 cm long;
  • not more than 1.3 mm in diameter.

Better yet, use monofilament. All connections are to be made, completely excluding the use of swivels and special carabiners.

Float

Drop floats

When choosing a float, it is necessary to take into account the speed of the current:

  • The lower the speed, the more sensitive the float is selected.
  • Intense current requires floats that are stable on the water.

A drop-shaped float is the best option. A special float is attached directly to the fishing line with the help of cambrics.

Loading and hooks

Sinkers are used light, mostly rounded shape. The float is loaded with small pellets, this is done for good stability. The main sinker is attached near the leash connection.

The leash is surrounded by the so-called undershepherd of pellets, but not very heavy, almost to the hook. Then the fish will be able to swallow the hook well.

Coil

On a rod not put coil.

As a rule, on forms of medium length, small, primitive coil devices are used. They basically serve only for storing fishing line.

Tooling installation

It is advisable to immediately equip them with various options for equipment that will be suitable for different fishing conditions. This is done in advance, and wound onto the reel. Be sure to have a couple of snap options, with different lengths of the main line.

It is used when removing the knees of the form, it will depend on:

  • the depth of the reservoir;
  • casting distance.

Tackles are made 27-35 cm less than the length of the blank. This is essential for a good swing. Prepare several rigs at once: rod-shaped and rigs that are equipped with a rounded float.

But the most important thing is the options for loading gear, she installs several options for equipment for a variety of fishing:

  • In order to catch in all layers of water, equipment with a light load is constructed, several pellets are evenly distributed over the line. When casting, it goes to the bottom slowly, smoothly and along the way, it will lure all the fish from the top water to the bottom.
  • To hunt for fish in the middle water column, you need to: place a load with the so-called disturbed uniformity, move the pellets a little towards the shed. The weight of the weights should decrease, approaching towards the metal hook.
  • When fishing takes place in the bottom part, with a depth of about 3 m and with an intense current: a heavy load is set, with special pellets regulating it from below.
  • If there is a lot of vegetation in the reservoir, then punching equipment is used: the load is placed compactly, and a special float is tied with a larger load holding. It must be remembered that very light rigs are of little use here, due to the inability to accurately cast.

Advantages and disadvantages of fly rod

Advantages:

  1. Convenient to use.
  2. Has a small mass.
  3. Elementary equipment and lightning speed of replacement.
  4. Changing knees is easy.
  5. Tangles and snags are kept to a minimum.
  6. Casting accuracy is high.
  7. Versatile in application.
  8. It is not difficult to master the technique of fishing.
  9. Setting up a fishing spot is also easy.

Disadvantages:

  1. The casting distance is short.
  2. Fragility.
  3. Difficulty in fishing, near branches.
  4. At great depths, fishing is impossible.
  5. Big fish are impossible to catch.

Technique and tactics of fly fishing

  1. First, you need to make test casts, and where there will be more bites, we place the tackle and start feeding. When fishing, you should always keep the tension of the fishing line, this will help you hook in time.
  2. The fishing rod should always be held in your hands and played with bait, fishing will become more productive. Periodically change the nozzle, the taste preferences of the fish sometimes change.

Fly rod, the oldest invention of man. He swung, and threw the bait tied to the stick away. So it was a long time ago. But even now many people have a question: how to tie a fishing line to a rod?

You need to start with the fact that the fly rod can be without rings or with them, the fastening of the fishing line will be different. In fact, a fly rod includes a plug rod, a match, a Bologna rod, a telescopic rod, just a bamboo rod.

Attaching the line to the fly rod:

  • with rings - running equipment;
  • without rings - deaf equipment.

On all fly rods, an indispensable element of equipment is.

Fishing rod without rings, line attachment

Deaf equipment is practiced on an ordinary bamboo fishing rod and on a telescope.
It is a mistake to assume that it will be enough just to tie the fishing line to the tip of a bamboo rod or to the thinnest knee of the “telescope”.
In order to properly tie the fishing line, you must consider:

  • Firstly, the very tip of telescopic rods is very thin, almost thread-like, and can break off;
  • Secondly, it is necessary to connect the fishing line so that there is a so-called feedback, the sensitivity of the bait.
  • Thirdly, it is also necessary to tie it in such a way that, if necessary, it is easy to change all the equipment.

In the case of a blind rig, there is no reel, so the line will need to be wound on a reel. The main fishing line should be shorter than the length of the rod and firmly, deafly attached to the tip (hence the name - deaf equipment). It will be difficult to pull the fish with a long line.

There are several ways to attach the line.

Connector

The simplest, in my opinion, is the use of a connector or, more simply, fasteners. They buy it in the store, picking it up for their rod.

Connector models differ in the way of fastening - internal or external. If it is inserted inside the top, it is internal; if it is inserted from above, it is external.
You will need to choose a connector according to the size of the tip.
The conclusion suggests itself: it is better to buy a connector together with a rod in order to immediately determine the model.

In order to secure the connector, it is simply glued. Further, it acts on the principle of a fastener. A loop is made on the main fishing line, which is inserted into the connector lock.

The loop

Another folk way to tie a fishing line. In this case, a mount is obtained. It is only necessary to make such a loop on the tip of the rod. It can be made from fishing line or metal wire, often using a paper clip.

Such a loop is attached to the tip of the rod and fixed with nail polish for strength.
It is easier to attach the main fishing line to a loop of wire than to a loop of fishing line or nylon lace.
This method is not good because at the end of fishing, in order to wind the equipment on the reel, you will have to cut it every time.

Kembirk

Instead of a loop, a cambric is put on the tip of the rod. This cambric, or just a piece of PVC tubing, must be put on with effort. The fishing line is pulled through this cambric, a knot is made and thus fastened.

The second way to use cambric. One cambric is put on the tip of the rod, a fishing line is tied to it with a knot and wrapped around several times, the second cambric is put on top.
To tighten the cambric tightly, it should be heated.

The disadvantage is that the cambrics quickly fray, and at the most crucial moment you can lose all the equipment.

Another disadvantage is the twisting of the fishing line or tangling the tackle when casting, as it is not always possible to fix it perfectly straight. In this case, the casting turns out to be a curve, not a clear one.

Overlapping can be avoided by removing the loop-to-loop fastening. You can do it this way: do not make a loop at the end of the rod, but attach a piece of nylon cord about 3 mm thick and 10 mm long. Tie a strong knot at the end of this cord, and fasten the main line with a self-tightening knot. A powerful knot on a nylon cord will serve as a stopper and will not allow the main line to move out.

Depreciation

When catching large fish, it is necessary to somehow extinguish jerks.

If your rod has a thread-like tip, one piece, then the connector is better in this case.

If the top is hollow or mixed, then a rubber band 10-15 centimeters in size can serve as a shock absorber here. Such an elastic band is attached with the help of a cambric, which is put on the tip, an elastic band is attached to the apex with a thread, the cambric is tightly stretched and fixes the elastic. A large knot is tied at the end of the elastic band and a fishing line is attached to it, as in the case of a nylon cord.

If you do not want to deal with connectors, cambric, loops, then get yourself a fishing rod with rings.

Line selection

For fly fishing rod is used. The choice takes into account: diameter, i.e. thickness, rigidity, ability to stretch, the presence or absence of memory. You will learn about all these parameters by reading the label, or by asking the seller.

One tip: do not always trust what manufacturers write on the label, be prepared that the declared parameters will not be true. Inexpensive, always sin with overestimated parameters.

The choice of fishing line is also influenced by the weight of the equipment. Casting a light rig on a thick line will not work well, especially if there is wind.

If you are using soft line, then after fishing you should not wind wet line tightly around the reel. It will stretch, and after drying, it can break the plastic reel. Therefore, winding, let's have some slack.

This note is the second part of the topic - float rod rig or summer float for beginners. The first part is "How to assemble a float rod".

The correct equipment for a float rod depends on the conditions of fishing and the habits of the fish.

What does it mean to take into account the conditions of fishing? This is a fishing place and weather conditions: which coast is high and steep or gentle and even; at what distance from the coast; at what depth; near aquatic vegetation; in the thickets themselves; on clean water; the presence and speed of the flow; the presence and strength of the wind.

What does it mean to take into account the habits of fish? Each breed of fish has its own characteristics: more or less cautious; the nature of the bite; fish sizes; fighting resistance; habitats.

In connection with the above, the float rod can be divided into two main types - a float rod with a blind snap (without rings and a reel) and a float rod with a running snap (with rings and a reel).

Float rod without rings and reel ("deaf tackle")

A float rod without a reel is mainly used for catching medium-sized fish at shallow depths in water bodies without current or in places with a quiet current.

Cons of a float rod without a reel

  • There is no way to make long casts.
  • There is no way to fish at great depths.
  • There is no way to fish from a high steep bank, bridges, dams.
  • And also, due to the lack of a reel, when catching large fish, it may be difficult to fight, for the same reason, you have to use a thicker fishing line and the tackle becomes rougher.

Advantages of a float rod without rings and reels

  • Since there are no coils and rings, it will be cheaper to assemble a "blank tackle" accordingly.
  • On a bait with a "deaf" equipment, you can catch among aquatic vegetation. A rod with a "running" rig cannot boast of this. The fishing line passing through the rings, when fishing among thickets, often clings to bushes, tall grass, because of this it gets tangled and breaks.
  • "Deaf tackle" is most suitable for high-speed fishing. When the fish is found, baited and the distance from the shore allows fishing with a float rod without a reel, then in this case it turns out to be slower to work with a rod with a reel.
  • With a fishing rod without rings and without a reel, you can quickly change the fishing line with all the equipment (float, sinker, hook) to a pre-prepared one. What did I mean?

Suppose there are several species of fish in the river - perch, roach, bleak. On a perch, it is advisable to use a thicker fishing line and a larger hook, and the float with a sinker will be heavier. For roach, you need a smaller hook, in general, all equipment should be lighter compared to equipment for perch. And for bleaking, the thinnest fishing line and small hooks are used.

For different breeds of fish - different equipment. Therefore, at home I prepared three fishing lines equipped with a float, a sinker and a hook, respectively, for perch, roach and bleak. I wound the equipped fishing line on the reel, and in order to quickly change the fishing line to the desired one, I use the clasp.

To tie the fishing line to the clasp, you can use clinch knot.

In the first part, I advised two floats - goose feather and spindle. For a float rod without rings and without a reel, we will choose a goose feather float. It is attached to the line in two places.

In the store, it is better to immediately purchase a set of shots of different weights. We will choose empirically. First, attach the smallest pellet. To attach a sinker, you need to put a fishing line in the cut of the pellet so that the distance from the sinker to the hook is about 5-8 cm, then press the pellet, for example, with pliers.

Testing. We lower the equipped fishing line into a container of water. We adjust the depth of the release of the hook with a float so that the depth of the water container is greater. This is necessary to see how the float "costs" (float loading). If it "stands" and at the same time does not sink, it rests almost vertically on the surface of the water, then the weight of the sinker is well suited to the float.

If the float goes under water (it sinks), then the sinker is too heavy. Pliers can easily bite off a piece of the pellet. We bite off the excess weight until the float is normally "standing". If the float "stands" sideways or practically lies on the water, then you need to add weight. We attach another pellet a little higher than the first, about 2 cm.

This was the simplest example of float balance adjustment. If one pellet weighing 0.8 g or less was enough to adjust the balance of the float in the water, then this tackle turned out to be light. In principle, you can already go and catch it. But such a light rig has a drawback - it will be difficult to cast the bait in a strong wind.

Consider when there are two pellets on the fishing line nearby or one, but heavier than 1 g, i.e. heavier equipment. When biting, when the fish will "chew" the hook with a delicious worm, it will feel the weight of heavy sinkers, especially at the moment when it wants to lift the bait from the bottom. Because of this, the fish will not finish chewing the worm and will spit out the hook. To prevent this from happening, make a backup.

The shepherd is the lightest shot of all available weights on a equipped fishing line. It is located at the very first distance from the hook at a distance of 5-8 cm. And the main load is even higher, i.e. away from the hook.

Now, when the fish takes the bait, it will only move the small pellet that is closer to the hook. The fish will not feel the light weight of the sinker, and the float will still show a bite. If, of course, the float is properly balanced.

The principle of adjusting the balance of a float with a landing gear is the same as described above. The only thing you need to do is to select the weight of the landing gear in such a way that it noticeably affects the load of the float. For example, without a shed, the float should protrude from the water a little higher. Do not forget, the weight of the shed should be small - I advise up to 0.8 g.

Often the hook and shepherd are attached to a separate leash. The leash is a continuation of the main fishing line. It is made from fishing line, the cross section of which is always less than the cross section of the main fishing line. The length of the leash varies. Usually 15-20 cm, but sometimes they are made up to 1 meter long.

What determines the length of the leash? From the habits of the fish. Watch how she pecks. If there are many empty bites, then the length of the leash is reduced. Due to a too long leash, belated cuttings are obtained. When the fish is there but the bites are rare, it is possible that it is frightened by the main thick fishing line and large sinkers. In this case, try to increase the length of the leash.

And also for the leash, you can use colored fishing line - green, brown, yellowish. The use of a colored leash made of thin fishing line makes the tackle less noticeable to the fish, which increases bites. To tie the leash to the main line, you can use the following knot, see the figure below.

A leash can be useful in case of a hook. Since the section of the fishing line for the leash was used less than the main one, then only the leash with the hook will come off when it breaks, and the main line and the float will remain.

We briefly reviewed the equipment with and without a leash. Which one to choose is up to you. I will not advise anything specific here, I gave information for reflection, then you yourself. Choose the length of the equipped fishing line approximately equal to the length of the rod, or a little shorter - by 15 cm.

Of course, you can make the line longer than the rod, but if you wake up to catch from the shore on which tall grass grows, then it will not be convenient to cast the nozzle, it will cling to the grass.

Technique for casting a bait with a float rod

I will describe the safest bait casting technique, especially for beginners. Casting by the type of "pendulum".

1) They take a rod in the right hand, and a hook with a nozzle in the left. The rod is held approximately parallel to the water. The tip of the rod is directed to the place where we are going to put the nozzle, or a little to the left.

2) Now let go of the nozzle and at the same time raise the tip of the rod - move the rod up and slightly forward. When the nozzle is ahead of the end of the rod, it is lowered.

When casting, make sure that the hook with the nozzle does not catch on the grass or something else.
