THEY COME BACK TO A GOOD PLACE AGAIN AND AGAIN. I’ll admit right away that I really like this hotel and the review will be well-fed, kindly and grateful. I don’t have the slightest reason to disparage this hotel and many will find the review boring. Here we go! It was in April 2019. Country UA I was painfully twitching in choosing the next Guide of the Moses class for the next five long years. We already know Quito won, but then it was the Secret of Secrets and the Riddle of Riddles. And in such a difficult time for the country, I gave in and after the first round I moved across two seas. Tour from Coral, UIA carrier. Departure from Boryspil term. D. After the opening of terminal F, there were noticeably fewer people here. Check-in was done remotely and luggage was accepted at the UIA counter, although the airport employees said that this could be done at any window. For some reason, when checking in my luggage with a friend, the system froze. Well, just a blue screen with a narrow yellow stripe at the bottom of the screen. Well, I think, “Destination-6\or 7.” Here the coffee machine also stole money, but didn’t pour coffee ...Everything is one to one! Well, okay, in manual mode and with the help of such and such a mother, the system became inflated and the luggage, swaying at the joints, rattled along the conveyor belt. Another nuance - boarding, of course, not through the sleeve\although there were a lot of them free\all passengers were loaded onto airbuses and taken to board...They take 5 minutes...They take ten...The air is clearly becoming warmer and begins to smell of the sea. And then, after a long and winding route, they brought us to terminal F, where our B700-900 was parked. Surprised? Why? We do a lot through the seating point. The board was in decent condition, but in the most redneck configuration for charters -at the norm of 189 there were 215 seats. I understand...Why should a UIA board be radically different from a minibus?! The flight took place in normal mode. There was no "tagil" and inadequate. Everything was in order. UIA showed miracles of hospitality - the first passage of carts with water and tea/coffee on the water was free of charge, and the second time the same. a coffee-containing drink already costs 3 euros. To avoid choking from the choking toad, I drank only water. Here is the long-awaited Hurghada. The board boarded at the new airport. It was a painfully long drive around the endless terminal... Everything was somewhat irritating - when all the European airliners go through the sleeve, we are transported extremely inexpensively, like in rush hour buses. We tolerate this too. Visa. ..The miracle tour operator Coral did not get infected from Anex, adding 2 USD to the visa price. Respect! Having already purchased a 20 gig SIM card\Etisalat\-17USD at the zero level, we proceeded to loading. 26 people were traveling to our hotel. The check-in was relatively successful. Although I asked for rooms 150 to 189\like last time\I ended up in building 2, which I had always seen, but never even approached. Room 3408 or 4308..2nd floor. We managed to negotiate at the reception about moving in 2 days to the 155th. Gritting my teeth out of frustration, I agreed. The room is relatively good, but I’m too lazy to drag my butt to the 2nd floor rather than go straight out of the room onto the grass... It’s a habit. And now the hotel’s biggest rush is for late dinner from 11 p.m. we were given practically nothing - pasta with a minimal selection of vegetables, I somehow didn’t consider the one greeting the dear guests of the hotel to be dinner. Last time there was almost a full dinner option... Well, I think the hotel has turned sour... With bitter thoughts and rumbling With my stomach I went to sleep, so that at least in my dreams I could see chops and cutlets Kiev style. Morning... I set out to inspect the property from the very morning. The beautiful people are sleeping, the wind is blowing furiously, they stubbornly take one position after another on the beach. These are experienced tourists! Don’t put a finger in your mouth like that - they’ll bite you off to the Dnieper! Ventilated on the wind turbine and went for the long-awaited breakfast. And here is my standard favorite curd shake with various fillings. Milk, by the way, I myself saw the process of filling the container - 6.2% fat content! Wow! Two bowls every day... And then more cocoa with the same milk - bomb! The mood has gone up. I returned to the beach, found at least some area where it wasn’t blowing like that and threw my bodies under the rays of the April Egyptian tan. I endured it for 20-25 minutes... Well, the wind ruins all the fun. I knew about it in advance, but I couldn’t even imagine that he will be as nasty as in January, March... But the second half of April, and he is stubbornly cold! Where can I complain?! I put on a T-shirt again and decided to go to the bass. From 10-00, in theory, it should have been warmed up. I didn’t notice... Again, it seems like you can sunbathe near the bass, but getting into it at such a water temperature and in the wind is not good It's a blast! It looks like the winter period has passed and there's no need to heat it up... So in a week I haven't swum in it even once. Only temperature-resistant kids were frolicking there... And then I saw a couple or three! No matter how much I hesitated to approach the sea, I still couldn’t gather my resolve. The water seems to be tolerable, but how disgusting it will be to dry in the wind. And a towel won’t help. Although some of our women swam and snorted with pleasure at the same time. No wonder - they are much stronger than us men - they even give birth to our heirs simply by pushing and breathing frequently! Respect to them! About the territory. It’s impossible not to mention the hardworking team of the hotel - they are like the crew on an expensive liner! Every part of the hotel, park area, is always looked after. Well done! It’s time for lunch. It could have started in 30 minutes on the summer area near Bassik, but the only meat there was liver. I’m quite indifferent to it. And the lunch in the main restaurant is very decent. It’s true, if on the last voyage this pangasius fisherman delighted me, this time I quickly became bored with it. This does not mean that it is poorly prepared, but I would just like to have several varieties of fish .But these are already applications for 5 stars and not for every hotel chain. Everything else is at a decent level. The chef-manager instantly remembered me and, as a compliment, gave me two bananas... Thank you, however! My previous acquaintances to whom I recommended this hotel complained that they didn’t pour the pink wine - lies, everything is there... You just need to call it correctly, and not show on yourself what the wine should look like against the background of burnt female skin. Arab men safsem He was probably thinking about something else, nervously fiddling with... fiddling with... well, I don’t know what he was fiddling with. The waiters almost instantly take an order for what you will drink and what to wash it down with! Well done! By the way... During the week I have never seen even the slightest bit drunk tourist. Either the strength of the drinks is not the same, or the air is fresh, or simply in This hotel is a shame to be an alkanaut. By the way, by appointment there is a visit to the ala carte Italian restaurant. Haha three times. I went once. The portions were so wildly limited and nothing particularly outstanding. Well, there was a salad with tuna - I looked through the whole plate, but didn’t find a single piece, although the aroma is present. I looked jealously at the plates for the Germans. But it seems that there are not tasty pieces there... Then the guide is Comrade Tuna himself? What in our country, in Egypt, are they pioneers, and everyone seems to be a pioneer... Or the tuna has self-destructed. The rest of the dishes were standard. Yes, probably, if I had ordered a double portion for myself, I would have been full, but I listened to the radio in an incomprehensible language. I didn’t want to have a Greek dinner anymore. What’s the point? There’s just one thing I don’t understand - that’s why it smelled so delicious from the hood of this restaurant?! I strongly recommend trying the pizza, which is prepared from 15-00 by the central pool. Of course, there are no fancy fillings, but how delicious it is when it is made in the oven. Drinks throughout the entire hotel are of very, very decent quality. Although Cola is already some analogue of ICY-Cola, it is very decent, the coffee from the maker is incredibly strong - core drinks are not allowed. And all the alcohol is in plastic containers. I don’t drink. And I don’t know anything about its quality I’ll say. Vinchik, by the way, for some reason the red one is nicer than the pink one, although on the last flight it was the other way around. Animation. It is there, but even though all sorts of disco roosters wake up people by the pool, it is not intrusive. Try here in the wind to attract people to have fun. In the evening there was a show in the amphitheater... Once I even came 40-50 minutes before the start, ordered drinks... I waited, got cold, spat in the shower and, under the guise of government affairs, went to the hotel lobby to vibe. Well, not always for me it was comfortable to pick up a signal from a friend’s Wi-Fi distributor. The speed at the reception is not great, but the people are crowded together. I usually did this from the bar - you suck on a Fanta with pomegranate syrup and suffer from vibes. It’s both pleasant and practical! We started smoking less.. .Previously, it was impossible to breathe in the bar at the reception, but now everything is correct. A few words about caring for the children - and the hotel is quiet! The animators welcome the spinnibals and spend time with them very enthusiastically, incl. you can hardly hear them. There are shops on the territory. There are several of them. And I even looked at swimming shorts, but with the colors of the French flag... It’s creepy, but the current situation with the endless armed conflict in Donbass did not allow me to buy them... Until they understand on the beach in Berdyansk, that the flag was of France, and already the whole face was covered in abrasions, and the carcass was bruised... Yes, that’s the reality. There is a pharmacy, and all sorts of small souvenir-type things. I didn’t go. I’ve been flying for a long time and don’t have any of these things I’m interested. It’s extremely disappointing that there is no point selling fruit near the hotel. And it’s stupidly lazy to drive about 12-15 km into the city. Yes, and five euros one way for the sake of 5-10 kg of exotics is a toad’s crush. You can ride minibuses with the natives, but also laziness... So I spent the whole week eating oranges, melons and apples in a restaurant. Boats and yachts. There is absolutely no point in taking a boat trip from the city. There are 4 pleasure boats moored to the hotel pier, which for 30 USD will lead an unforgettable trip with the possibility of diving. And why then go to the port, wait for the formation of a group, etc. etc. Everything is nearby! Now about the service. On the third day it was time to move to a room by the sea. I went to the reception, they quickly pulled up a company of cleaners for my future 155th room, and I went to wait in the hotel room for the transfer of our common luggage.. .I sit for 30 minutes, I sit for an hour, but no one is there. I take one bag and drag it myself, like a seasoned European, to room 155, and there the rustling is already over and the room is locked. I call the cleaner to open the room for me, I would leave the bag and went for the next one, but no such luck. According to the Hague Convention, it is forbidden to open a room to a suspicious Ukrainian without a key and a pass. I leave my bag at the door, set the tripwire and go to the reception to sniffle and angrily swear at the injustice of life. They gave the hotel a fight, They gave me the key...I stayed in the room and sent for the remaining bags. He brings... He's waiting for sugar for tea... Now! For my ordeal and also gild the handle - a 16-bolt with a left-hand thread! The cleaner who didn't let me in comes in and apologizes... I punish the offender with a proletarian hand in a soft place! I didn't calculate forcefully and often he swam with pleasure. I return him to reality by coughing in Ukrainian. After that he was silky. “Beating determines consciousness,” as K. Marx used to say, when checking into a 4-star hotel... Now about what I began to understand only with the difficulties of inflammation of the joints. And how well thought out the plan of the hotel is - wherever there is a need to use railings, they are there You will never go down without support anywhere. And this is worth a lot. About the work of Coral. I will compare with the actions of fighters from competitors Anex. It seems like the same. they sell tours using hefty numbers, but how skillfully and elegantly. There is no offense that he stops loving all Ukrainian tourists and marries a Kazakh woman. They, of course, are not a source of cheap tours, but as masters of selling trips, they are simply great. The return time for the bus to the airport was regularly posted on the orders and announcements board 24 hours in advance. But this is a standard procedure. On the last day at 12-00 check-out. Once again, I naively waited for the fight at 12-00, but it was sent only after a call from the reception, when I angrily refused to leave the room if the hotel-fight would continue to wear horned people at the workplace. I came. I didn’t expect a tip. I kept looking around and apparently all the staff knew about the educational conversation with the cleaner. And then came a long 7 hours of floundering around the hotel waiting for the transfer. The biggest plus of the hotel is that no one separated us from the trough until departure, although according to all the rules they could have. Only for this I will continue to vouch for this hotel. I like it .I like it. And in the late fall, when I visit it again, I hope they will accept me by agreement only to the first floor automatically. I would like to note the work of the Russian-speaking girl Ira at the reception. Although I did not need her help, she really helped the pioneers. It was already evening... I changed from tourist clothes to civilian clothes and at 19-15 we started our way to the airport. I haven’t wandered around Hurghada itself for a long time, but in the evening of the last day it seemed to me extinct. Even at my favorite restaurant El Mina there were no flocks of eternal lovers seafood. And the hotels where people were picked up were somehow empty and dim. And this was not in the low season...Three times, as they say in UA. Again, control in the airport... Again, removing the belt from the jeans... Again, barefoot digging through the frame. Still, they didn’t find the RPG. I understand that this is necessary, but the floor was clearly dirty, and I was barefoot. And again, the terminal of the departure hall is only slightly smaller than in Bangkok, and there are practically no people. Again, there is no question of any kind of traffic - by foot from the 3rd to the ground level, bass and painful seating. Oh, miracle! Borispol received the arriving flight through the sleeve. And the transporter worked until the customs zone. The board was unloaded extremely quickly and all those who had arrived went home. The next flight was completed. Because of the weather, it turned into just relieving vitamin deficiency, and I got to swim will only be possible at the end of the summer. See you on the air in future. I highly recommend the hotel. It looks more like a well-fed and clean reservation for tourists waiting for comfort. I will definitely come back! The advantages of the hotel are that they feed us well here too. Excellent combination of price and quality Why do we need Haiti? Cons of the hotel Very insignificant level of “not catching up” with the hotel staff.

Every year on the third weekend of August, a car charity event takes place on California's Monterey Peninsula south of San Francisco. In fact, it is the world's most prestigious pre- and post-war classic car competition. Nowhere else in the world will you see or meet so many of the most exclusive... Thousands of lovers of old and modern cars come to this exhibition.

Many of the world's car manufacturers use this event to show us all their most exclusive new products. It is noteworthy that all new models presented at this exhibition, as a rule, have maximum prices, just like the exhibition samples of old and rare classics that can be seen from time to time. We offer our readers an overview of the most interesting cars from Southern California.

Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Zagato.

Here is a Vanquish Zagato with 592 hp. The new car design inspires a sports car and a new life.

Just like the Volante version, this presented supercar will be released in a limited edition of 99 copies. One thing is true, but even if you are a very rich person, you still won’t be able to buy this car. The fact is that the entire production run of the cars had already been sold out. The average cost of each such supercar is 650 thousand euros.

Bugatti Chiron.

In California, at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the new Bugatti Chiron supercar was officially presented. Unlike the auto show where the sports car was presented in light blue, in the USA the car debuted in a dark blue version, which looks more elite.

The car is the successor to the Veyron supercar. But unlike the old sports car, the new car has become more powerful, its power is 1500 hp.

Mercedes-Maybach 6.

Mercedes surprised the crowd that gathered at Pebble Beach last weekend by presenting an unusual car concept. The body proportions themselves are surprising. After all, this is essentially the largest coupe in the world. The length of the car is 5.7 meters, while the height of the car is only 1.33 meters. So it turns out that this car is simply not suitable for elderly wealthy people.

This concept is equipped with an electric motor with a power of 750 hp. and a power reserve of 500 km.

McLaren 570GT concept from MSO.

The GT concept was also presented at the exhibition, which has a titanium exhaust system, which allowed engineers to lighten the car by 30%.

The car is equipped with a special glass roof with a chameleon effect (electric chromatic glass roof). The roof can change its color at the touch of your hands. Also, this car is presented in an individual pearl white body color, which is also coated with a special piano varnish.

BMW 2002 Hommage "Turbo Master".

The car, on display in Southern California, is a tribute to the extraordinary feats of Bavarian engineering that is now equipped with turbocharged technology. The car is presented as a concept and has specific colors that recall the company's success in the 1970s in the world of motorsports.

This concept is a specific study of the BMW company, with the goal of finding out whether cars with compact sizes, which were produced back in the 70s, will be in demand on the market. The fact that the Bavarians have been trying for a long time to start introducing compact cars to the market is evidenced by the following, for example, their new model of the series, which in a short time returned the company to its former glory.

Lamborghini Centenario Roadster.

This company also decided to participate in the exhibition in America. This year, the Italians presented their supercar Centenario Roadster with a power of 770 hp, which is equipped with a V12 naturally aspirated engine capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

Some of our readers at this point in time will think that this Centenario Roadster supercar is an excellent investment. But alas, forget it, all 20 copies of this car have already been sold. The average cost of a car today is $2.4 million.

Cadillac Escala.

The Cadillac company brought an unusual car to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show, surprising everyone without exception. This is not just another concept from Cadillac, but a concrete future design direction for the company, which will gradually be implemented on all of its new models.

Compared to the model car, this Escala concept is 15 centimeters longer. Ultimately, the body length of the new product was 5.34 meters. The design of the car is certainly unusual for this Cadillac company. It is especially unusual for its new appearance in the front of the car. What is noteworthy here is that the company’s classic design (the front of the car) has been around since 1948. Thus, and apparently, the engineers of the American brand for the first time and really decided to very soon begin creating new car models with a completely new “high-tech design”.

Ford GT Heritage "66.

At this exhibition, the Ford company decided to present its limited edition model 66 car. This car was released in honor of the victory of racing drivers Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at the Le Mans race 50 years ago. The car received an exclusive black paint, which can be Available in either a glossy or matte finish.

The supercar's interior features new leather sports seats combined with carbon fiber. The initial cost of this car is 500 thousand euros.

Palm Beach is a county located in the state of Florida, directly north of Broward County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,320,134, making it the third most populous county in Florida. The largest and main city in the county is West Palm Beach. Named after one of its oldest communities, Palm Beach, the county was founded in 1909 after separating from Dade County. The current boundaries of the district were established in 1963. Palm Beach County is one of three counties in South Florida and the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metropolitan area of Florida.

The territory's population began to grow in the late 19th century with the consolidation of West Palm Beach in 1894 and after Henry Fragler expanded the East Florida Railroad and built the Royal Poinciana, The Breakers, and Whiteball hotels. In 1928, Hurricane Okehobe struck West Palm Beach and caused thousands of deaths. Since then, many other tropical cyclones have affected the area. The county most recently received attention during the 2000 presidential election when there was a controversial recount.

Since 2004, Palm Beach County has been ranked as the wealthiest county in Florida, with a personal income per person of $44,518. It leads the state in agricultural production and, besides real estate, agriculture is Palm Beach's largest industry.

Story

About 10,200 years ago, Native Americans began migrating to Florida. Tribes settled in what is now Palm Beach County include the Ice, Calus, Jag, Miami, and Tequesta. Approximately 20,000 Native Americans lived in South Florida when the Spanish arrived. Their numbers decreased significantly by the 18th century. due to military conflicts, enslavement and disease from Europe. In 1513, Juan Ponce de Leon, who had led a European expedition to Florida the previous year, became the first non-Indian to reach Palm Beach County, landing in what is now Jupiter. Among the first non-Indians were also African Americans, many of whom were former slaves or direct descendants of former slaves who escaped to Florida from slave plantations in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Fugitive African slaves began arriving in what was then Spanish Florida in the late 17th century. where they found refuge among the Seminoles. During the Seminole Wars, they fought for the Seminoles against white settlers and bounty hunters. Battles of the Second Seminole War took place in Palm Beach County, including the Battle of Jupiter Inlet in 1838.

The oldest surviving building, the Jupiter Lighthouse, was built in 1860. after receiving land permission from President Franklin Pierce in 1854. During the American Civil War, Florida was among the Confederate states of America. August O. Lang and James Payne provided assistance to their state by removing the luminous mechanism, turning off the lighthouse and thus allowing their ships to escape as they tried to break the blockade. Lang was also the first white settler in Palm Beach County. He builds a palmette shack along the eastern shore of Lake Worth in 1863 after the Confederate defeat. After the end of the Civil War, the Jupiter Lighthouse reopened in 1866. Thirteen years later, the National Weather Service office was located in the lighthouse complex. However, the office would be moved to Miami after that city's population began to grow rapidly.

In October 1873, a hurricane caused a shipwreck between Biscayne Bay and the New River. The team survived, but nearly died of starvation due to the desolation of the area. By an act of Congress on June 20, 1874, it was decided to establish five shelter houses along the east coast of Florida from Pierce Inlet south to Biscayne Bay. Refuge House Number 3, Orange Grove, was built near Delray Beach in 1876.

Henry Flagler, who played a major role in the development of the county in the late 19th century and early 20th century, first visited the area in 1892 and described the area as “a veritable paradise.” Flagler subsequently purchased land on both sides of Lake Worth. Other investors followed suit, causing a small boom and attracting existing businesses or creating new ones. The Hotel Royal Poinciana, created by Flagrel for wealthy tourists, opened in February 1894. About a month later, the Florida East Coast Railroad, owned by Flagler, reached West Palm Beach. On November 5, 1894, Palm Beach County's oldest city, West Palm Beach, became part of the county. In 1896, another Flagler-built hotel, the Palm Beach Inn, opened, later renamed The Breakers. He also built his own winter house, starting in 1900; he and his wife moved there on February 6, 1902. Flagler died there on May 20, 1913, after falling from a marble staircase.

Palm Beach County was created in 1909. It was so named because of the first community of settlers, Palm Beach. The district consisted of northern Dade County, including part of what is now Okeechobee and Broward counties, part of Martin, and all of Palm Beach County, originally including all of Lake Okeechobee. The southernmost portion of Palm Beach County was separated when northern Broward County was created in 1915, the northwestern portion became part of Okeechobee County in 1917, and southern Martin County was created from the northernmost portion of Palm Beach County in 1925.

Early on September 17, 1928, Hurricane Okeechobee caused a landslide near West Palm Beach and passed through Lake Okeechobee shortly thereafter. The storm caused serious damage to the city and claimed 26 lives. More than 1,711 homes were destroyed in West Palm Beach. Inland, hurricane-force winds caused storm damage on Lake Okeechobee and flooding in nearby areas, especially Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay. Hundreds of square miles were inundated with water, including 20 feet (6.1 m) in places. Hundreds of homes were demolished and destroyed after colliding with other obstacles. The water had not completely receded several weeks after the flood. At least 2,500 people died, most of them black migrant farmers. Damage in South Florida was approximately $25 million (in 1928 dollars). In response to the disaster, Herbert Hoover created a dam to prevent similar disasters. Lake Okeechobee previously overflowed its banks in 1926 as a result of Hurricane Miami, although Moore Haven in Glades County was flooded. As a result of two hurricanes, Okeechobee and Miami, Palm Beach County, along the southern coast of Florida, began to experience economic crisis before entering the Great Depression, even before the collapse of Walt Street in 1929. Housing prices have dropped dramatically, as have vacation prices in the area.

Palm Beach International Airport (PIA), later known as Morisons Field, opened in 1936. Following the United States' entry into World War II, it was converted into an air force base in 1942. During the war, thousands of military personnel flocked to Palm Beach County for preparation and support of military operations. After the end of World War II, a number of veterans returned to the base for work, vacation, or retirement. The base was closed and became a commercial airport again in 1962. The migration of workers, tourists and retirees to the county continued into the 21st century.

On August 28, 1949, West Palm Beach was hit by a Category 4 hurricane with maximum winds of 150 mph (240 km/h), causing extensive damage.

The first television station in the area, WIRK TV channel 21, was authorized to broadcast on September 13, 1953. And it ended in less than three years. However, NBC affiliate WPTV TV and CBS affiliate WPEC first went on the air in 1954 and 1955 respectively, both of which are still in existence today.

Richard Paul Pavlik attempted to assassinate future President John F. Kennedy in Palm Beach in December 1960. The Kennedy family vacationed in La Guerida, a home originally owned by Rodman Wanamaker and sold to Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. in 1933. Paulik's anti-Catholic and anti-government views led him to the intention and organization of the assassination of JFK (John F. Kennedy). A resident of New Hampshire, Pavlik loaded his car with sticks of dynamite and drove to Palm Beach. Pavlik sent strange postcards to his hometown that contained information that coincided with Kennedy's vacation. The postmaster warned the Secret Service to be vigilant about Pavlik's vehicle. On December 11, while Kennedy was preparing to leave the mass gathering, Pavlik abandoned his attempt to assassinate Kennedy because he was with his wife Jacqueline and their two children. On December 15, Pavlik's car with sticks of dynamite inside was surrounded by police and he was arrested. Charges against Pavlik were withdrawn on December 2, 1963, 10 days after Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, during his presidency, due to the escalation of the Cold War, a secret bomb shelter was built on Peanut Island.

In 1963, approximately three-quarters of Lake Okeechobee was removed from Palm Beach County and divided among Glades, Hendry, Martin and Okeechobee counties. This was the last change in the boundaries of the district.

Late on the night of September 3, 1979, Hurricane David swept through Palm Beach with winds of 100 mph (155 km/h). The storm's winds destroyed windows at businesses near the coast and caused property damage, including demolishing an exterior structure of the Palm Beach High Alley and toppling a 186-foot (57 m) WJNO AM radio tower in West Palm Beach into the Intracoastal Waterway (a system of canalized waterways along the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Ocean in the southern and eastern United States). Several roofs were blown off and numerous structures were flooded by more than 6 inches (150 mm) of rain. Damage to the district amounted to $30 million (at 1979 prices), most of which was caused to agriculture.

The county became the center of controversy during the November 7, 2000, election. An alleged butterfly ballot, designed by Theresa Lepore, Palm Beach County's elections director, was responsible for the unexpectedly large number of votes for Reform Party candidate Pat Buconen, and not Democrat Al Gore. Because of the aforementioned butterfly ballot and the closeness of the results between Gore and Texas Gov. George W. Bush, a hand recount was conducted. On December 8, the Florida Supreme Court voted 4 to 3 to order a manual recount of votes in all counties with disputed vote counts. However, the United States Supreme Court overturned the Bush-Gore decision on December 12, allowing Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris to award 25 popular votes to Bush for an earlier recount decision, putting him ahead of Gore by 537 votes. Which, in turn, brought victory to Bush in the national elections.

A subsequent FBI investigation after the September 11, 2001 attacks found that 12 of the 19 terrorists had come to or resided in Palm Beach County for an extended period of time before the attack, including Ahmed al-Ghamdi, Ahmed al-Khaznawi, Marwan al-Shahhi, Waleed and Wail al-Shehri. , Sattam al-Suhami, Mohamed Atta and Ziyad Jarrah. A month later, during a biological attack, a letter containing anthrax spores was sent to the American Media building in Boca Raton. Three people were infected with anthrax spores, including Robert Stevens, a photo editor who died from the infection.

Palm Beach County was impacted by several tropical cyclones in 2004 and 2005, most notably Hurricanes France, Jeanne and Wilma, which caused at least several billion dollars in damage. Early on September 5, 2004, a landslide struck Martin County as a result of Franz, a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 105 mph (165 km/h). Although tropical storm-force winds were affecting the area, wind gusts as high as 91 mph (146 kph) were recorded in Jupiter Inlet. High winds caused 659,000 power outages, according to FPL's count. Infrastructure damage in Palm Beach County included 15,000 homes and 2,400 businesses. In addition, severe damage was caused to agricultural crops; 70 million dollars (in 2004 prices) were losses under sugar supply contracts. Six deaths were recorded in Palm Beach County as a result of traffic accidents and drownings associated with the effects of the storm.

About three weeks after Hurricane Frances, Hurricane Jeanne swept through the same area with Category 3 winds of 120 mph (195 kph). Even though Hurricane Jeanne was more powerful, its overall impact was slightly less. Storm surge of 2 to 4 feet (0.61 to 1.22 m) along the coast resulted in moderate beach erosion in Palm Beach County. Jeanne also brought strong winds with gusts of 94 mph (151 km/h) recorded by C-MAN at the Lake Worth Pier. In western Palm Beach, an unofficial wind gust of 125 mph (201 km/h) was observed. FPL reported 593,300 power outages since Jeanne. Some 4,160 houses were damaged and 60 destroyed. There was also significant localized flooding in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens and rural areas in western Palm Beach County. Agricultural losses reached about $30 million. The total loss from Zhanna amounted to $260 million, but there were no casualties.

On October 24, 2005, Category 3 Hurricane Wilma, with winds of 120 mph (195 km/h), caused a landslide near Cape Romano, Florida. The storm formed in the northwest and moved directly through Palm Beach County. At PBIA (Palm Beach International Airport), winds reached 82 mph (132 km/h), while observed wind gusts were 101 mph (163 km/h). The winds damaged 52,835 Palm Beach County homes and destroyed 2,669.

Since Hurricane Wilma in 2005, several other tropical cyclones have impacted Palm Beach County. In August 2008, Tropical Storm Fay brought mostly flooding, with water levels reaching 7-9 inches (180-230 mm) in eastern parts of the county. The fairy created an EF2 over Wellington, which destroyed the roof of the stables, tore down electrical wiring and several trees at the Palm Beach Horse Clinic. Additionally, the equine veterinary clinic lost about 95 percent of the building's roof tiles and a heavy trailer was thrown 120 feet (37 meters) from its original location. The apartment building also suffered minor roof damage. Four years later, in August 2012, the outer ring of Hurricane Isaac dumped at least 15.86 inches (403 mm) of rain near Lion Country Safari. The flooding left abandoned neighborhoods of Acreage, Loxahatchee, Royal Palm Beach, and Wellington stranded for days. During the storm, one person died after falling into a concrete wall along I-95. Total damage in the county was approximately $71,590,000 (2012 US dollars).

Democrats

Republicans

As of July 2015, registered voters in the district consisted of 361,955 Democrats and 233,908 Republicans, while 246,453 were independents or third party members.

Palm Beach County has supported the Democratic candidate in presidential elections since 1992. Before 1992, the district had maintained a Republican every four years since 1948. Palm Beach County was the center of a nationwide media frenzy in 2000 when it appeared to influence that year's presidential election between eventual winners George W. Bush and Al Gore. A major source of controversy was the butterfly ballot used in Palm Beach, whose confusing ballot design may have caused many voters to mistakenly vote for Reform Party candidate Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore. Buchanan was unexpectedly impressive around the area. In the end, Gore won the district, but Bush carried Florida by 537 votes after a recount was effectively halted by the U.S. Supreme Court in Bush v. Gore.

In the 2004 presidential election, President Bush received more votes in the district than trailing Democrat John Kerry by approximately 60.35%-39.05%. During the U.S. Senate race, Betty Castor (D) won Palm Beach County against Republican Mel Martinez by a narrow margin of 22.26%. In 2006, incumbent Senator Bill Nelson (D) defeated Katherine Harris (R), receiving about 72.54% of the vote. Then Republican Charlie Crist was defeated in the district by Jim Davis (D) 59.71% -38.28%. In the 2008 presidential election, Barack Obama increased the Democratic margin of victory compared to four years earlier and took approximately 61.08% of the vote against John McCain (R) in the district.

In the 2010 gubernatorial election, Alex Sink (D) won Palm Beach County by an 18.67% margin over Rick Scott (R). That same year, then independent U.S. Senate candidate and former Governor Crist won Palm Beach County by just under 3,000 votes, or a margin of only 0.74%. President Obama, who was re-elected in 2012, narrowly won the district against Mitt Romney with 41.18% of the vote. During the election for a Class III U.S. Senate seat in Florida, incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson received 55.2% of the vote against challenger Connie Mack IV in Palm Beach County. Former Governor Crist, who became a Democrat, received 58.8% of the vote against Governor Scott in the 2014 gubernatorial election.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, Palm Beach County is represented by four Democrats: Patrick Murphy in the 18th District, Elsie Hastings in the 20th District, Ted Deutch in the 21st District, and Louis Frankel in the 22nd District.

Expressways

    Interstate 95

    Florida Turnpike

I-95 and the Florida Turnpike are expressway feeder highways served by Palm Beach County. South Avenue (designated SR 80/US 98), which runs east-west through the center of Palm Beach County, is part of the highway from Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach to US 441/SR 7 at Wellington and Royal -Palm Beach. In the late 1980s, there were plans to build two additional expressways in Palm Beach County. One would have been 11.5 miles (18.5 km) long from the Royal Palm Beach Tollway to downtown West Palm Beach. This would be the route between Belvedere Road and Okeechobee Boulevard; which required the destruction of several houses and churches along this route. Another proposed route was a northern extension of the Sawgrass Expressway, which would have been called "University Alley". University Avenue would wind around suburban expansions west of Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Boynton Beach; this path bordered the Loxahatchee National Forest. Ultimately, both expressways were canceled due to opposition from county residents.
